KPK searches 9 sites tied to Sukoharjo regent, seizes cash, jewelry
Investigators say the alleged extortion ran through routine OPD payments collected every quarter.
KPK searched nine locations linked to Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani on 14-15 July 2026 and seized electronic evidence, documents, cash and jewelry. On the first day, investigators visited the regent's official residence, the regent's office, the Public Works Agency, the Transportation Agency, the Agriculture Agency and the Health Agency. The next day, searches continued at the Education Agency, the BPKAD office, the Kesbangpol office and Etik's safe house in Laweyan, Solo. KPK said the case is tied to alleged extortion through requests for routine payments from OPD, which were then collected every quarter through the regent's close aide. Etik, BPKAD head Richard Tri Handoko and Sukoharjo regional secretariat general affairs chief Tri Mulyo have been detained until 29 July after a 9 July OTT.
