KPK Questions Foreign Nationals in Residence Permit Extortion Probe

Investigators also received tips about alleged BPJS corruption for foreign workers, but have not opened a separate probe.

KPK has scheduled interviews with a number of foreign nationals in its investigation into allegations of extortion in residence permit processing. Acting Director of Investigations Achmad Taufik Husein said the sample questioning is needed to test whether they realized they had been extorted and whether service agencies told them about charges from immigration officials. He said the case is nearing the end of the investigation, with attention now on the extortion scheme itself. In the same investigation, KPK also received information about alleged corruption related to BPJS social security for foreign workers. However, KPK has not opened a new investigation and is still examining whether it is connected to the residence permit case involving foreign nationals.
