KPK warns PSI after ex-graft convict Nur Alam joins

KPK flagged Nur Alam's legal status, including parole until 27 January 2029 and possible political rights revocation.

KPK urged political parties to examine the track record, integrity and legal compliance of prospective members after former Southeast Sulawesi Governor Nur Alam joined Partai Solidaritas Indonesia. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said parties must be careful when recruiting members or filling political posts, especially if a candidate has previously been handled in a corruption case. KPK said the legal status of the person concerned still needs attention, including whether the person is still serving parole or has been subject to political rights revocation. According to Republika, Nur Alam has been on parole since 16 January 2024 and remains under the supervision of Bapas Kelas I Bandung until 27 January 2029. He was previously sentenced to 12 years in prison in a corruption case involving permits and gratuities, and was ordered to pay Rp2,7 miliar in restitution. Nur Alam said he joined PSI after meeting Joko Widodo in Solo on 17 June.
