KPK Detains Klaten Regent, Central Java BPK Chief, 1 Private Actor
KPK suspects more than Rp2 miliar in project fees was used to repay 2024 local election debts and for the regent's personal expenses.
KPK detained Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, Central Java BPK Representative Chief Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, and private party Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo in a corruption case involving the Klaten regency administration in the 2025-2026 budget year. The three were named suspects after a sting operation on 15 October 2026 in Klaten, Surakarta, and Jakarta that netted 23 people. KPK said the case covers five clusters: procurement of goods and services, licensing, levy collection, deposits from OPD or SKPD, and payments to BPK officials to smooth the audit process. Investigators also suspect Hamenang received more than Rp2 miliar in fees from suppliers and contractors, part of which was used to pay 2024 Pilkada debts and personal operating expenses. The detention will last 20 days from 16 October to 4 November 2026 at the KPK Merah Putih building detention center.
