South Korea's military detected the launch from the Pyongyang area around 09:20, with the projectiles traveling more than 900 km.

North Korea launched two projectiles believed to be ballistic missiles toward the Japan Sea on Monday, prompting alerts in South Korea and Japan. Japan's Defense Ministry said the missiles likely fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the launch was detected from the Pyongyang area around 09:20 local time toward waters east of North Korea. South Korea's military said the missiles detected traveled more than 900 kilometers. The U.S. military in the Pacific said the launch posed no immediate threat to U.S. personnel, territory or allies. The incident came as tensions on the Korean Peninsula rise after Pyongyang and Seoul exchanged missile technology tests.
