Komisi III DPR backs Polri probe into Rp5 trillion coal graft

The power-plant coal supply case for 2018-2026 is now under investigation, and police have not named any suspects.

Chairman of Komisi III DPR, Habiburokhman, backed the Polri Corruption Crime Unit in investigating alleged graft in the procurement and supply of coal for several PLTU, which is suspected of causing blackouts. Citing information from the investigation, the 2018-2026 case is estimated to have caused state losses of around Rp5 triliun. Investigators suspect at least two companies manipulated the quality and quantity of the coal supplied. So far, dozens of witnesses have been questioned and no suspects have been named. During a search in Cipete, South Jakarta, police also found documents and cash in U.S. dollars and Singapore dollars from a hidden safe at Cafe de'Clan and Poin Money Changer.
