The Ministry of Communication and Digital issued a circular requiring mobile operators to comply with a Constitutional Court ruling on protecting customers' unused internet quota. In essence, paid-for quota may not be canceled unilaterally when the package's active period ends. The rule also bars operators from charging extra fees to preserve or use leftover quota. In addition, operators must provide service options so customers can choose the mechanism for unused quota, including rolling it into the next package, compensation, extending the active period, transferring benefits or a refund. Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said public complaints show operator compliance has not been complete, so the government requires clear education so customers understand their rights and options.
