KM Egon takes over passengers after KM Lawit hits dock in Ende
After Thursday's incident, 379 would-be passengers in Ende canceled their trips and Pelni issued full refunds.
PT Pelni is deploying KM Egon to serve affected passengers after KM Lawit struck a dock while maneuvering at IPPI Port in Ende, Nusa Tenggara Timur, on Thursday (29/10). At the time of the incident, KM Lawit was carrying 1,146 passengers. A total of 317 people disembarked in Ende, while 379 prospective passengers who were due to board there had their trips canceled and received full refunds. To maintain service, Pelni filed a route deviation for KM Egon to call at Ende, Lewoleba and Kupang before returning to Waingapu. The ship is scheduled to return to its regular route on Monday (2/11) after the assistance period ends, while repairs to KM Lawit remain under review.
