KLH Makes Routine Environmental Audits Mandatory for Industry, Mining
Next, KLH is preparing a ministerial regulation that is also expected to increase demand for environmental auditors and surveyors.
The Ministry of Environment is pushing to make routine environmental audits mandatory for industrial zones, corporations and the mining sector to strengthen oversight and speed ecosystem recovery. The environment minister said audits are needed to measure business compliance and provide improvement recommendations based on conditions in the field. KLH also acknowledged that the number of environmental auditors remains insufficient and wants to increase and distribute those professionals more evenly across sectors. As a follow-up, the ministry is preparing a ministerial regulation so that every corporation or industrial zone is audited periodically. According to KLH, the plan is expected to encourage companies to carry out environmental remediation on their own, while also creating greater demand for environmental auditors and surveyors.
