Linknet plants 5,000 mangroves in Serang as Jatim area rises
Jawa Timur said its mangrove area reached 31,067 hectares in 2025, almost half of Java's total coverage.
PT Link Net Tbk planted 5,000 mangrove seedlings on the coast of Serang City ahead of World Mangrove Day on July 26, involving residents, students, elementary school pupils, and local environmental groups. The “New Home-Pass, New Tree” program was described as part of a target to plant up to 50,000 trees this year at various locations across Indonesia. In 2025, Linknet planted a total of 22,500 trees, consisting of 13,500 mangroves and 9,000 terrestrial trees. Separately, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa urged a more intensive mangrove planting and care movement. The East Java provincial government said mangrove coverage rose from 27,221 hectares in 2021 to 31,067 hectares in 2025, equal to 47.85 percent of total mangrove areas in Java.
