The Johar Baru and Kemayoran handouts were used to promote fish consumption as nutritious food during Republic Day events.
The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries distributed four tons of frozen mackerel scad to residents of Jakarta on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence. The distribution took place at two locations, with two tons each in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and Johar Baru. Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono took part in the event after a series of public celebrations organized by the government at several points in the capital. Beyond being part of the independence festivities, KKP used the fish distribution to bring fishery products closer to the public and encourage fish consumption as a source of nutritious food. KKP said the activity was also intended to foster a spirit of sharing and solidarity among residents.
