Kenya’s Ebola death toll rises to 2 as confirmed cases reach 9
Why it matters: Authorities say all cases remain in one cluster with no community spread, but the US raised its Kenya travel advisory.
Kenya recorded a second Ebola death after a 65-year-old woman in quarantine developed symptoms and died Friday, the health ministry said. She was a close relative and direct contact of the first Kenyan patient, a man who traveled from the Democratic Republic of Congo and died in Nairobi on Oct. 5. Kenya has now confirmed nine cases, with seven patients still receiving care in two isolation facilities. Officials said they had traced 135 contacts and found no evidence of community spread, with all infections linked to a single cluster. The outbreak began in Congo and has spread across four African countries, while Nigeria this week also reported a case.
