Kentucky woman indicted on 2 felonies in WWII Memorial vandalism

A federal grand jury indicted Melissa Farris of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, on two felony counts tied to damage at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall in Washington. The indictment charges her with destroying a veterans memorial and destroying government property, and she is due to be arraigned next week. Authorities say Farris spray-painted “Clean hands dirty $” on the monument and put bubbles in the fountain on Aug. 13. Fox News reported prosecutors said cleanup and restoration costs had already exceeded $1,000. Farris was released after an initial court appearance on Aug. 17. An attorney for her did not immediately respond to a request for comment, PBS reported.
