Kemkomdigi urges parents to monitor children online

The government is enforcing PP Tunas to ensure children use digital platforms only when age, emotional readiness and supervision align.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital is urging parents not to let children face digital technology without supervision. Head of Kemkomdigi’s BPSDM, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said children may use technology, but they must be accompanied to avoid risks in the digital space. The government is also implementing Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Providers in Child Protection, or PP Tunas, which uses the principle of "Tunggu Anak Siap". The policy is intended to ensure children enter digital platforms only when they are appropriate for the child's age, emotional readiness and understanding. Kemkomdigi is also asking platforms to restrict access for children who have not met the age limit. Separately, Universitas Airlangga expert Rachmah Ida warned of digital predators, child exploitation, mental health problems and reduced direct social interaction.
