UMKM Ministry offers free halal certification for 500,000 firms
The program is meant to help small businesses meet the halal certification requirement taking effect in October 2026.
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is preparing free halal certification support for about 500,000 business operators in Indonesia. The program, run with the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal, is intended to help UMKM meet the halal certification requirement in October 2026.
UMKM Minister Maman Abdurrahman said halal certificates are important to boost consumer trust and expand market access. Beyond certification, the ministry is also preparing support for business legality, financing, training and licensing.
The government is targeting a national entrepreneurship ratio of 3.20 percent in 2026 and 3.60 percent in 2029. The UMKM Ministry is also developing the Sapa UMKM app to reach about 57 juta UMKM, and is working with 754 business incubator institutions to provide mentoring for entrepreneurs and small business operators.
