Kemensos recruits 13,000 staff for Sekolah Rakyat operations
Open selection will be held each year for foster parents and dormitory supervisors as the government moves toward 500 Sekolah Rakyat units by 2029.
The Ministry of Social Affairs is recruiting about 13,000 people to support the operation of Sekolah Rakyat across Indonesia. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf in Makassar on Thursday said the staff will include teachers, dormitory supervisors and foster parents, while new needs will be filled through open recruitment gradually each year. The government is targeting 500 Sekolah Rakyat units in operation by 2029. In the initial phase, the program was assisted by Family Hope Program companions and the ministry's social pillars, but those temporary workers will be withdrawn once the official posts are filled. In addition to teachers and caregivers, Kemensos is also staffing security personnel, cooks and cleaners. At present, 182 Sekolah Rakyat sites are operating and accommodating 44,000 students from elementary, junior high and high school levels.
