Kemenperin helps revive PT Pakerin as 2.500 jobs face cuts
PT Pakerin's cardboard-paper line has been idle since December 2024, while its caustic soda plant continues operating normally.
The Ministry of Industry is preparing mitigation measures to help restore PT Pakerin's operations amid threats of layoffs for about 2.500 workers. Kemenperin has summoned the company's management and received an explanation that PT Pakerin now runs two main businesses: cardboard paper for packaging and caustic soda. The caustic soda line is still operating normally, while cardboard-paper production has been halted since December 2024 because of internal company problems. PT Pakerin's CFO met with the Acting Director General of Agro Industry in Jakarta on 23 June. Kemenperin is also preparing raw material support so the paper line can resume operations. The company's earlier difficulties were linked to funds still held at Bank Prima Master, whose license has been revoked and is now in liquidation.
