Kemenperin boosts support for IKM ahead of Oct. 18, 2026 halal rule
The government also reaffirmed the deadline will stand, while preparing special rules for UMK and imported products.
Kementerian Perindustrian is stepping up support for small and medium industries so they are ready to meet the halal certification requirement that takes effect on Oct. 18, 2026. The assistance is focused on financing and help with implementing the Halal Product Assurance System. Head of the Halal Industry Center at Kemenperin, Dewi Setiawati, said large food and beverage industries have essentially been subject to the requirement since 2024, while IKM still need support because of costs and the implementation of SJPH. At the same time, Head of BPJPH Haikal Hasan reiterated that the mandatory halal deadline remains in force and will not be delayed. The government is now preparing special provisions for certain conditions, especially for usaha mikro dan kecil, raw materials, consumer goods, and imported products, so the policy can be enforced in an orderly way without disrupting business continuity.
