Kemenpar promotes AI to help tourists plan routes, choose
Kemenpar has launched MaiA on indonesia.travel to offer personalized, multilingual recommendations and ease crowding at destinations.
The Ministry of Tourism is promoting the use of artificial intelligence to help travelers plan trips, from choosing destinations to mapping routes. Ni Made Ayu Marthini, deputy for marketing at Kemenpar, said in Jakarta on Friday that AI makes it easier for tourists to find information through keywords without manually searching multiple sources. The technology can also read user preferences, such as food choices or hotel services, so recommendations are more personal. In addition, AI can guide tourists away from crowded routes to reduce the risk of over tourism. Kemenpar has introduced Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia, or MaiA, which can be accessed at indonesia.travel. The platform is being prepared as part of the Tourism 5.0 program and is intended to serve as a digital travel assistant from planning through sharing experiences.
