Kemenhub receives Rp177,99 billion grant for Maleo Morowali Airport
Next: the runway will be strengthened, the apron widened and navigation facilities added so the airport can handle larger aircraft.
The Transportation Ministry signed a grant agreement and handover document for the construction and development of Bandar Udara Maleo in Morowali regency, Central Sulawesi, from PT Zhenshi Indonesia Industrial Park. The grant is worth Rp177,99 billion for work covering 54.011,95 square meters. The package includes reconfiguring the runway strip and Runway End Safety Area, ground improvement using the CFG Pile method, extending the runway by 300 meters with a width of 30 meters, building a turning area, installing airside fencing and improving markings. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said the project aims to strengthen air connectivity for the Morowali industrial area and smooth the movement of residents, workers, business operators and logistics. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will continue upgrading facilities so the airport can accommodate larger aircraft.
