Kemenhub readies Nataru oversight after 55% of bus trips violate rules

Route violations led more than 1.06 million bus departures at 115 Terminal Tipe A in 2026, prompting tighter checks.

The Ministry of Transportation is tightening oversight of Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 transport after an evaluation at 115 Terminal Tipe A found most bus trips still have problems. Of 3,158,517 intercity bus departures from Jan. 1-Oct. 30, 2026, 1,760,258 trips, or 55.73 percent, were indicated to have violated regulations. The most common violation was route deviation, with 1,066,441 departures. For buses arriving at terminals, 1,818,204 of 3,283,247 trips were also indicated to have violated rules, including 1,073,361 route deviation cases. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi asked operators to complete ramp checks on fleets, ensure drivers and crew are healthy, and adjust operations to weather information from BMKG. Kemenhub is also preparing alternate routes and mitigation at flood, landslide, high-wave and strong-wind risk points during the year-end holiday period.
