Kemenhaj warns Rp10 million badal haji may be fake

The cost of obtaining tasreh is put at more than Rp25 million, making much cheaper offers suspicious.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has warned the public to watch out for bogus badal haji offers after the practice came to light during the 1447 Hijriah/2026 hajj season. In Makkah on Thursday, Director General of Hajj and Umrah Service Control Harun Al Rasyid explained that anyone carrying out badal haji must have already performed hajj for themselves and must comply with Saudi Arabia rules, including securing tasreh and Kartu Nusuk. He said the cost of obtaining tasreh reaches more than Rp25 million, making a badal haji offer of Rp10 million unreasonable. Kemenhaj asked the public to check whether the fee is realistic, the reputation of the recommending party or performer, and the validity of the travel agency's official permit. Sekretaris Ditjen Bina Pelayanan Haji dan Umrah Rizka Anungnata added that Kemenhaj may draft formal reporting rules for travel agents or KBIHU to monitor badal haji practices.
