Kemendikdasmen maps low-enrollment elementary schools with local governments

The data will focus on schools with fewer than 100 students, including those below 60, to guide restructuring.

Kemendikdasmen is mapping state elementary schools with low enrollment ahead of the 2026/2027 school year and is preparing policy steps with regional governments. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti said Dapodik data has been shared with Kemendagri, including schools with fewer than 100 students and those with fewer than 60. He has also discussed the issue with Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian and is preparing a special meeting. Abdul Mu’ti said the trend is driven by changes in the school-age population, migration, housing development, parents’ school choices and geographic conditions. In several areas, the pattern is already visible: SD Negeri 1 Gedung Meneng in Bandar Lampung received only two new students, while SDN Purwoyoso 01 in Semarang enrolled three.
