Kemenag reviews MBG at MIN 2 Palembang amid corruption scrutiny

Support for involving pesantren kitchens is growing after three former BGN officials were detained in the MBG governance case.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs reviewed the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Palembang, South Sumatra, as the program came under scrutiny after allegations of corruption in MBG governance surfaced. Kemenag Inspector General Khairunas visited the school on Tuesday to inspect meal distribution, nutritional compliance, and preparedness of SOPs and mitigation measures such as catering arrangements during school holidays and extreme weather. At the same time, Gerakan Pengasuh Pesantren Indonesia chairman M Cholil Nafis proposed that the government work with independent pesantren kitchens so nutrition delivery would be more targeted and not rely on centralized physical projects. The proposal emerged after Kejaksaan Agung detained three former Badan Gizi Nasional officials in the alleged corruption case involving MBG.
