Kemenag prepares 1,000-doctor program for 95 Ma’had Aly
The 2027-2031 faculty map will guide talks with LPDP funding and help identify new lecturers earlier.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is preparing a 1,000-doctor development program for Ma’had Aly to strengthen the quality of pesantren higher education. The 2027-2031 plan begins with mapping lecturer needs and graduate potential at 95 Ma’had Aly across Indonesia. Director General of Pesantren Basnang Said said the mapping will cover fields of study, the number of mahasantri, academic qualifications, and alumni who can be prepared to become lecturers. The results will be used as the basis for exploring further education funding with LPDP, so master's and doctoral studies match the needs of each pesantren campus. Fields mentioned include Islamic civilization history, hadith, fiqh, and tafsir. Kemenag also wants to identify potential graduates earlier so that qualification upgrades have a direct impact on Ma’had Aly development.
