The latest: Rp51.6 billion in cash and Rp30.9 billion in property assets were traced from the Bapindo fugitive who fled in 1996.
Kejaksaan Agung on Monday (15/6) handed over the results of its tracing of assets belonging to convicted corruption defendant Eddy Tansil, totaling Rp82.68 billion, as a non-tax state revenue deposit to the Ministry of Finance. The amount consisted of Rp51.68 billion in cash and Rp30,998 billion in land and building assets. Kuntadi, head of the Kejagung Asset Recovery Agency, said funds in Eddy Tansil's name were traced by the Asset Tracing Center, while Tribunnews reported the family voluntarily surrendered the assets. Eddy Tansil, convicted in the roughly Rp1.3 trillion Bank Bapindo credit scandal, was sentenced to 20 years in prison but escaped from Cipinang Prison in May 1996 and has not been recaptured. He was once traced to China in 2013.
