Land fire nears homes in Sabaru, Palangka Raya

A land fire neared homes in Kelurahan Sabaru, Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah, on Saturday (15/8). Local residents joined a joint emergency team to put out flames from several points that were threatening the residential area. They relied on water from residents' bore wells, drainage channels and fire tanker trucks. Several residents also helped with simple equipment to slow the fire's spread. The joint effort kept the blaze from burning any homes. The incident came amid a series of forest and land fires in Kalimantan Tengah over the past few days.
