Kapolri leads 2026 Hari Juang Polri in Surabaya
The Aug. 21 ceremony at Monumen Polisi Istimewa drew 203 invited guests and again featured the 1945 Police Proclamation.
Kapolri Jenderal Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo led the 2026 Hari Juang Polri ceremony at Monumen Polisi Istimewa in Surabaya, Jawa Timur, on Friday to mark the Police Proclamation of Aug. 21, 1945. As part of the ceremony, Listyo led a moment of silence and read the Police Proclamation again as a reminder of the police force's spirit of struggle in the early days of independence. The commemoration was attended by Polri ranks and 203 invited guests from Mabes Polri, Forkopimda, Pemerintah Kota Surabaya, religious leaders, students, academics, veterans, and the Polri family. History records that Iptu Muhammad Jasin and Polisi Istimewa Surabaya drafted the text on Aug. 20, 1945, then read it a day later as a declaration of loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia.
