KAI prepares eighth KRL trainset for early December service

The INKA-built set is due for final testing in mid-November after repairs to the automatic doors and propulsion system.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia is preparing the eighth Commuter Line Jabodetabek trainset to absorb a surge in passengers, with a target to begin operations in early December 2026. From January-October 2026, the service carried 303,79 million passengers, or an average of 1 million people per working day. KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin inspected the new trainset from PT INKA at the Depok KRL Depot in Jawa Barat. According to KAI, the trainset has passed several tests and will undergo a final trial in mid-November. The refinements are focused on components that have often caused problems, including the automatic doors, propulsion system, and boogie coil spring. KAI said the doors have been tested 500 times to ensure operational reliability and safety.
