KAI begins building 3,784 affordable homes in Manggarai
The 8-tower project on 2.2 hectares near Manggarai Station is targeted for completion in 18 months and includes 150 retail units.
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) began construction of affordable vertical housing in Manggarai, Jakarta, on Friday as an integrated public transport project. The development on about 2.2 hectares includes eight 24-story towers with a total of 3,784 housing units and 150 supporting retail units. KAI has divided the project into two areas: Blok G, covering about 7,000 square meters, and Blok F, about 1.5 hectares. KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the area is designed so residents can live in the city center with close access to mass transit while maintaining the safety and smooth operation of trains. Manggarai Station currently serves about 162,000 customers per day with 700-750 train trips. The project is targeted for completion within 18 months from the groundbreaking.
