Judge orders singer D4vd to stand trial in killing of 14-year-old

What's next: David Burke faces an Aug. 31 arraignment in Los Angeles and remains jailed without bail.

A Los Angeles judge ordered singer D4vd to stand trial on charges including first-degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after a five-day preliminary hearing. D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has pleaded not guilty. He also faces charges of sexual abuse of a child and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors allege Burke began a sexual relationship with Rivas Hernandez in 2023, when he was 18 and she was 13, then killed her at his Hollywood Hills home on April 23, 2025. Authorities say her remains were found in two body bags in the front trunk of his impounded Tesla in September 2025. A trial is expected within 90 days of the Aug. 31 arraignment.
