Jokowi is honored by 9 Timor kings as an elder in Kupang

Indonesia's 7th president Joko Widodo was honored as an elder, or brother, by nine kings from kingdoms on Timor Island during a Cultural Carnival at Lahi Lai Bissi Kopan Beach in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The adat ceremony became the highlight of the event, which Jokowi attended and which was watched by thousands of residents who packed the beach area. The honor was described as a tribute to the values of brotherhood and the culture of the Timor community. The event took place in an area also known as Pantai LLBK in Kupang, with traditional customs emerging as the main focus of the cultural celebration.
