Germany names Juergen Klopp as coach after 2026 World Cup
DFB is preparing a 4-year deal through 2030 and will add Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz and Sven Bender to the staff.
The German Football Association (DFB) named Juergen Klopp as coach of Germany's national team after firing Julian Nagelsmann following the team's failure at the 2026 World Cup. DFB announced the appointment on Friday via Instagram. Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024 and later worked as sporting director at Red Bull, will now lead efforts to rebuild the German side. He will be joined by his former Liverpool assistants, Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as Sven Bender, who played under him at Borussia Dortmund. Several German media outlets reported Klopp has a four-year contract that would keep him in charge through the 2030 World Cup.
