JD Vance adds custom chicken coop to Naval Observatory residence
What's new: The vice president's office said the American-made coop was installed at no cost to taxpayers and debuted at a 4-H event.
Vice President JD Vance has added a custom chicken coop to the Naval Observatory, the official residence of the vice president in Washington. A spokesperson for Vance said the coop was designed to match the historic property's architecture and that Vance plans to care for the birds himself. The office said his children have already named the chicks. Carolina Coops, a family-run U.S. business founded by Matt and Gnon DuBoise in 2008, built the structure. The vice president's office said the project cost taxpayers nothing. The coop was introduced during the annual Camp VPR event for local 4-H students held with the USDA.
