Attorney General proposes merging criminal units into operations
The proposal would unify implementation rules for KUHP and KUHAP, which are now separate and lengthen coordination.
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin proposed merging the general criminal and special criminal divisions at the Kejaksaan Agung under the umbrella of Jaksa Agung Muda Operasi. He presented the idea at the Seminar Nasional Refleksi Enam Bulan Implementasi KUHP dan KUHAP serta Bedah Buku at Universitas Al-Azhar, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. According to Burhanuddin, separating Jampidum and Jampidsus has meant that internal rules for implementing the new KUHP and KUHAP have moved on separate tracks, making coordination longer and confusing in the field. He said a single structure would make implementation easier, more effective and less costly. He added, however, that the proposal remained only an idea and was open to further input.
