Jakarta Bapenda building burns again in 11th-floor archive room
Eight fire engines and 30 personnel were deployed, but the building’s pump reportedly failed during firefighting.
Fire again hit the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency, or Bapenda, building on Jalan Abdul Muis, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Friday (21/8). The blaze was reported in the archive room on the 11th floor. Data from the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency Command Center showed the report came in at 17.10 WIB, with firefighting starting at 17.20 WIB. A total of 8 fire trucks and 30 personnel were deployed. Crews contained the fire at around 17.25 WIB and entered the cooling stage at 17.30 WIB. During the response, the building’s pump reportedly did not function, hampering efforts to extinguish the fire. The same building burned on the night of Aug. 7; at the time, the flames spread from the 11th to the 16th floor and were fully extinguished only in the early hours of Aug. 8.
