Istana denies Purbaya resignation rumor, no cabinet reshuffle yet

Istana denied reports that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa will resign from Kabinet Merah Putih. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday that there are no plans for a finance minister replacement or a cabinet overhaul in the near term. Purbaya had earlier dismissed the resignation rumor circulating on social media. The denial came amid pressure on the rupiah, which breached Rp18.000 per U.S. dollar on Thursday morning, while the exchange-rate assumption in APBN 2026 is set at Rp16.500. Prasetyo said the government is now prioritizing intensive coordination among Kementerian Keuangan, Bank Indonesia, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs to maintain economic stability.
