Israeli strikes kill at least 5 in Gaza despite 2025 ceasefire

Why it matters: Gaza health officials say more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed since the October 2025 truce took effect.

Israeli strikes killed at least five Palestinians in Gaza on Friday, including three members of the same family near Deir al-Balah, according to Gaza health officials and local medical sources. Other strikes killed one person on a motorbike and another in Gaza City. Separate reporting from earlier in the day said three Palestinians from the Abdeen family were killed in Al-Qarara near Khan Younis. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the Gaza incidents. The deaths came despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire that began in October 2025 and paused major fighting but did not stop Israeli strikes. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the truce, while Israel says operations are aimed at preventing attacks by Hamas and other militants.
