Israeli gunfire kills Palestinian teen in West Bank village clash

What's new: A 70-year-old Palestinian was also wounded after settlers entered land near Sa'ir, where Israelis are generally barred.

An Israeli man guarding a group of Jewish settlers shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian and wounded a 70-year-old man during a confrontation in the West Bank village of Sa'ir on Aug. 21, Palestinian officials and the Israeli military said. The clash began after settlers entered village land in what the military described as an unauthorized visit. Villagers responded by throwing rocks, and some settlers were injured, the military said. Sa'ir, near Hebron, lies in an area under Palestinian Authority civil control where Israelis are generally prohibited from entering. The shooting came amid rising tensions in the occupied West Bank, where Palestinians and international bodies have condemned expanding settlements and settler violence.
