Israel strikes Gaza again, killing 9 Palestinians
The attacks continued as a 15-point ceasefire roadmap remained unimplemented, with Israel refusing to pull back without Hamas disarmament.
Israel struck Gaza again on Sunday (2/8) for a second straight day, killing at least nine Palestinians in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis and near Jabalia. Palestinian health officials said the dead included one family in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, as well as a man and his wife in an apartment in Deir al-Balah. The Israeli military said a strike in Deir al-Balah targeted two commanders of Hamas' elite Nukhba force, while other attacks were aimed at military operatives. The strikes came amid Donald Trump's claim of a breakthrough to carry out last year's Gaza ceasefire agreement in Egypt. But the 15-point roadmap released by the Board of Peace has not taken effect, and Israel has said it will not withdraw from its current positions without Hamas being disarmed.
