Israel locks down West Bank after Hebron attack wounds 5
What's next: Israeli forces said raids, searches and demolitions around Hebron could continue for several days before Tuesday's election.
Israel moved to seal off the occupied West Bank and launched a broader operation around Hebron after troops shot dead two Palestinian gunmen following an attack that wounded five people on Friday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered security forces to cordon off Hebron and prepare a full closure of the territory, while the military and Shin Bet said forces were searching targets, questioning suspects and demolishing structures they described as security threats. Netanyahu later said Israel was weighing a much larger army operation in the West Bank. The violence comes days before Israel's Oct. 27 election, where security has been a central issue. Hamas praised the attack but did not claim responsibility.
