Israel launches major West Bank operation after 6 deaths

Israel imposed curfews in Tell and Bureij, while the U.N. urged immediate action to halt the violence.

Israel launched a large-scale military operation in the West Bank on Friday (24/7) after clashes near the village of Tell killed four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers, one of them also a settler. Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered a series of additional steps, including reinforcing forces, setting up new checkpoints, separating traffic routes and carrying out intensive operations in villages Israel considers centers of terror. In Nablus, Israeli troops also surrounded and stormed Nablus Specialist Hospital. WAFA reported that medical workers were assaulted and several doctors and nurses were handcuffed. After the incident, IDF imposed a curfew in the villages of Tell and Bureij, while the U.N. called for immediate action to stop the violence that has continued in the West Bank.
