Iranian missiles hit 2 UAE tankers in Hormuz, killing 1 sailor

Two Emirati oil tankers were struck by Iranian cruise missiles in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, killing one Indian crew member and wounding eight others, the United Arab Emirates said. The vessels, ADNOC L&S tankers Mombasa B and Al Bahyah, suffered significant damage and fires after being hit in the southern lane of the strait in Omani waters, the UAE Ministry of Defence said. Four of the wounded were seriously hurt; six were Indian nationals and two were Ukrainian, it said. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said two “offending” supertankers were hit and disabled after ignoring warnings, switching off navigation systems and entering what it called a mined route. The attack adds to weeks of escalation in the waterway as U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran continue.
