Iran strikes U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain as oil prices rise

What's new: Brent crude climbed near $90 a barrel after Iranian media reported tanker disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran targeted U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain after a fresh round of American strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets across Iran, widening a conflict that has also reached Egypt's coast and vital shipping lanes. Iranian state media said a drone strike hit aircraft shelters, satellite communications systems and storage facilities at Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait, and that an earlier attack struck power generators and navigation systems at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Egypt separately reported that a drone hit two ships at the port of Damietta, causing a fire. Oil prices turned higher after Fars reported the IRGC stopped two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and diverted four others, though that account could not be independently verified.
