Iran hits 5 Gulf states; 3 wounded in Qatar
The retaliation deepened the crisis after the U.S. struck about 140 Iranian military targets and pressured shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran launched missiles and drones at Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain on Sunday (12/7/2026), hours after U.S. Central Command struck about 140 military targets in Iran. Qatar reported that three people, including a child, were wounded by missile fragments. All members of the Gulf Cooperation Council except Saudi Arabia said they intercepted projectiles or drones from Iran. In Bahrain, air raid sirens sounded again, while Oman reported drones hit several locations in Musandam. The IRGC also claimed attacks on a U.S. radar in Kuwait and a command center and drone hangars at a U.S. base in Jordan, but Amman said three falling missiles caused no casualties. The escalation came after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz following an attack on a Cyprus-flagged container ship, hitting a route normally used for about 20 percent of the world's energy exports.
