Iran rejects military option in Saudi-Houthi Bab el-Mandeb clash

Iran rejected any military involvement in the escalating conflict between Arab Saudi and the Houthi group in Yemen, while urging a settlement through dialogue. Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there is no military solution to the Yemen crisis or the tensions in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. He also dismissed claims that the situation in Yemen could be linked to Iran. Tensions rose after the Houthi announced a blockade on Saudi ports and claimed attacks on tankers, moves seen as disrupting oil supplies and trade routes. In Jakarta, Indonesia's 13th Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, through spokesman Masduki Baidlowi, also called for a cease-fire and offered a "Jembatan Dialog Empat Pilar" to promote mediation, political reconciliation and protection of international logistics routes.
