Iran warns new war with U.S. could last longer
Tehran has not replied to a JD Vance letter on talks and still wants Hormuz reopened and sanctions lifted first.
Iran warned that a new war with the United States could last longer than the previous round of conflict, after President Donald Trump said there were still one or two targets in Iran that could be struck quickly. Military spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said Washington would not be able to determine the timing or end terms of the war. The threat came as diplomatic channels remained open. Mohsen Rezaei said he had received a letter from Vice President JD Vance to restart talks, but Tehran has not responded. Iran also kept its conditions: frozen assets must be released, the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports must end, sanctions must be lifted, fighting on all fronts must stop, and the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened. The Revolutionary Guards, through Hossein Mohebbi, also said the conflict with the U.S. would not be limited by geography.
