Interport sends Sandikala VII from Surabaya to Balikpapan
The 1,400 DWT ship can carry 107 TEUs or 1,200 tons of cargo to serve shallow-water and remote areas.
Interport began the maiden voyage of its new vessel, Interport Sandikala VII, from Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya to Balikpapan, with an estimated transit time of four days. The Indonesia-flagged ship is the first multipurpose vessel owned by PT Interport Dirandra Syandana.
With a capacity of 1,400 DWT, Sandikala VII can carry up to 107 TEUs when fully loaded with containers, or 1,200 tons of breakbulk cargo. The 67.2-meter vessel also has a 3.2-meter draft, allowing it to operate in shallow waters and areas that conventional cargo ships cannot easily reach.
Interport is targeting the fleet to support logistics distribution for the mining, oil and gas, construction and other sectors in areas with limited port infrastructure. The vessel has also received technical seaworthiness certification from PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia.
