INKA ships 2 locomotive platforms to Australia, reaches 18th unit
The two units are part of a 50-unit contract worth more than Rp100 miliar that will be delivered in stages through 2028.
PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) shipped two locomotive platform units to UGL RS Pty Limited in Australia through the Surabaya Container Terminal in East Java. The shipment on Friday (10/7) marked the 17th and 18th units under a 50-unit contract signed in 2021, valued at more than Rp100 miliar. The products sent were not complete locomotives, but base structures or underframes that will be used in the final assembly of C44ESACi diesel-electric locomotives in Australia. According to INKA, the project shows Indonesia's railway manufacturing entering the global supply chain. So far, INKA has sent more than 1,000 freight cars and dozens of locomotive platforms to Australia and New Zealand. All orders are scheduled to be delivered in stages through 2028.
