Indonesia U-19 finish third at AFF Cup after 1-0 win over Kamboja
Nova Arianto's squad now turns to the U-20 Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers in Laos, with Malaysia, Laos and Australia next.
Indonesia U-19 ended the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup in third place after beating Kamboja 1-0 in the third-place playoff at Stadion Utama Sumatera Utara, Deli Serdang, on Saturday. The only goal came from Muhammad Al Gazani Dwi Sugandi from a corner delivered by Isfandyar Abdillah in the 62nd minute. The result denied Garuda Nusantara a chance to defend the title they won in the 2024 edition after a 0-1 loss to Australia in the semifinals. Coach Nova Arianto said the team still needs to improve its cohesion and physical fitness. Indonesia are next scheduled to play in Group H of the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers in Laos, facing Malaysia on 31 August, Laos on 3 September and Australia on 6 September 2026.
